The Great Blue Heron, is Canada's largest heron, Observers most often see this stately bird in shallow water and usually nests in the top of a tall tree.
The Snow Goose, is one of the few birds whose numbers have increased since the year 1900. It breeds in the high Arctic tundra and prefers areas covered with a few inches of water where it grubs for the roots of rushes and marsh grasses.
The Spruce Grouse, lives almost exclusively in Canada, and is widely distributed in the forest areas. It dines on the needles and buds of coniferous trees and enjoy berries.
The Great Horned Owl, inhabits all of Canada south of the tree line. This large, powerful bird hunts at night or dusk. It preys mostly on rabbits, mice, rats, skunks and scorpions. This bird does not make its own nest, but takes over one built by a crow, hawk or heron.
