They are known as hummingbirds because of the humming sound created by their beating wings, which sometimes sounds like bees or other insects. They are also the only group of birds with the ability to fly backwards.

Australian Pelican (Pelecanus conspicillatus ) ~ Lake Eyre officially known as Kati Thanda - Lake Eyre. The lake has been identified by BirdLife International as an important bird area, it supports major breeding events of the Banded Stilt and Australian Pelican, as well as the populations of Red-necked Avocets, Sharp-tailed Sandpipers, Red-necked Stints, Silver Gulls and Caspian Terns. Estimated 200.000 pelicans which is 80% of Australia's total population, came to feed at Lake Eyre.

China 2005 ~ The Xianghai National Nature Reserve in Tongyu County, Jilin Province, is an inland wetland of water ecological system. More than 200 bird species live and procreate here, including crans, swans, white storks, bustards and golden eagles. It is the homeland of red-crowned cranes. In 1992 The World Wildlife Fund designated it as an "A Class Nature Reserve of International Importance"

Grenada ~ Pea Dove


The Grenada Dove ( Leptotila wellis ) is a medium-sized New World tropical dove. It is endemic to the island of Grenada in the Lesser Antilles. Originally known as the Pea Dove or Well's Dove, it is the national bird of Grenada. It is considered to be one of the most critically endangered doves in the world.
